ROCKPORT-FULTON, TX – The Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) announced retention stipends for all employees on Friday, July 30, 2021 from the federally approved ESSER III grant.
All returning ACISD full-time employees will receive a series of one-time retention stipends totaling $3,750, and all full-time employees, new to ACISD, will receive a series of one-time retention stipends totaling $3,000. Part-time staff will receive half of the stipend amounts for their respective job status.
“Our employees experienced a tough year and they did an amazing job. We want all employees to feel valued, and we have an opportunity to invest in the individuals who showed grace through a number of challenges last year and will continue to make learning happen for our students as we move forward.” ACISD Superintendent Dr. Joshua Garcia said.
The ACISD School Board has also announced their commitment to working on staff pay raises with additional details to be released soon.
“It’s important to acknowledge our appreciation to the hard-working staff.” ACISD School Board President Kenny Cruzan said. “Our ACISD School Board is committed to the future of our children and that starts with our teachers and employees.”
The retention stipends will be used from the district’s federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief III (ESSER III) fund. ESSER funds were provided to state educational agencies and school districts to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students.
ACISD teachers and staff start returning next week in preparation for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18th.
