Parent Workshop: Visual Supports for Home

This will be a free workshop for parents in which they will be shown how to use visual supports at home as another way to help their children. Research has shown that the consistent use of visual supports can aid in learning new skills, following a schedule, communicating, increasing positive behavior, and decreasing challenging behaviors. This is particularly true of children who have autism or an intellectual disability.

Parents will be introduced to a website and a free app they can use to make visual supports at home. Staff will show parents various types of visual aids and will assist parents in making an individualized visual aid they can take home. Pre-made general visual aids will also be available.
